An Open and Closed Case

23 Apr 07

If you've ever wanted to open Windows Explorer without expanding any of the drives, then check this out.

The only way we have found to do this is to open My Computer in Explorer view. Place an Explorer shortcut on your desktop. Right-click the shortcut and choose Properties. When Properties opens, click the Shortcut tab.

Click in the Target entry box and type

C:WINNTEXPLORER.EXE /e,/root,::{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}

Click OK to close the dialog box and save your addition. Now double-click the shortcut, and you'll get an Explorer view of My Computer--with none of the folders expanded.
