I have upgraded a USB keyboard and MS wireless mouse (PS2) to the MS Optical
desktop 700, which runs both mouse and keyboard from one USB port
Followed instructions to the letter (generic , and seemingly for all ms
w/less set ups) but when I restart my pc every time, I get a message saying
that I have a "PS2 mouse failure. Hit any key to continue" I do, and it boots
up as normal. but the mouse then doesn't work unless I hit the connect button
on the mouse and receiver. I have to do this every time I restart. How can i
tell the pc to ignore the fact that there's no mouse in the PS2 port? Thanks |

You'll need to check the motherboard manual for the relevant BIOS setting.
This is a BIOS issue, not related to Windows.
While you're there be sure that your keyboard does actually work in the
BIOS. Some BIOS'es do not work with wireless keyboards - they aren't
initialized till too late in the boot cycle. If yours is like this, keep
your old keyboard on hand for the occasions when you need to get into the
BIOS.

Patrick,
Thanks for this. Only issue is that I am lost in the world of BIOS. I don't
have my motherboard manual either. Any quick steps you can run me through??
