Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>help_and_support (more info?)

OK, my system font has changed into a something like wingdings
(unrecognizable characters). When I startup, my password cannot be
entered correctly since the characters are not the same. Everything on
the opening screen is unrecognizable. I tried the ctrl-alt-del twice
routine with no luck. The password will not enter correctly there
either.
How can I open up windows to change the font? Can I do anything else?

HELP

Not sure what "font" you would select to change the login screen. Is it
possible the language has changed.

Can you login to the "administrator" account there may be no password. But I
guess you may have problems typing in "administrator".
