I tryed to alter the Windows Media Player file name but Wxp keeps restoring
the name.

I am trying to get Windows Media Player to always run at the 50% size by
using a shortcut which has the name of the WMP file that the shortcut is
pointing to.

Set the size of the window that opens when you double-click your
shortcut to what you want and close it. Media Player should
"remember" the last used window size. But, be sure that you've
selected "normal window" and not "maximized" or "minimized" under
the Run field of the shortcut as seen in its Properties.
