Running winXP home edition.
There are 2 people using our machine so I don't know everything
that goes on with it. However about 2 days ago I noticed at boot
up that notepad opens twice displaying the desktop.ini file contents.
It did not originally do this when we bought the machine so I ran
msconfig and unchecked these items. Does anyone know why or what
required the system to feel the need to start up two instances of
notepad
displaying the contents of the destop.ini file ??

You have "desktop.ini" in one of your startup folders. Right-click Start,
and choose "Explore All Users". Navigate to Programs \ Startup. Look for a
desktop.ini file in here; if you don't see it, go to Tools\Folder
Options\View tab and check "Show hidden files and folders".

If you still don't see it, right-click Start, and choose "Explorer". Follow
the same procedure above.
