Post subject: Can't start Desktop Window Manager service
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>performance_maintenance (more info?)

Hi,
A while ago, the Aero features stopped working on my laptop computer. I
recently traced the problem to the fact that the Desktop Window Manager
Session Manager service (UxSms) was not running. However, when I attempt to
start the service, I get an Error 998: Invalid access to memory location. Any
ideas on how to fix the problem would be appreciated.
