I have exactly the same problem that JH posted on Dec 17, 2007.

I did not see any fix so I am reposting the problem.

I back up a few files to CD using drag and drop with windows
explorer. I have been doing this on this computer for about 3 years
with no issues. About 2 months ago the copying started to slow down
in the middle of the copying function. it is getting slower and
slower. What took 15-20 minutes before now can take up to 2 1/12
hours if I let it go.

I can use the same process over my wired network and complete the
process in 20 minutes.

I have done every utility (dskck,clean-up, defragment), changed
memory, upgraded hard drive (used disk wizard to clone), and all
settings have been checked to be @ DMA and speed at max.

Any suggested options or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
