Windows doesn't come with a "security suite". You'll have to
reinstall whatever 3rd party software you had before. |

And why do you *think* that you need to reinstall it? More likely
your anti-virus or firewall software doesn't cooperate with it. |

Because it use to allow me to adjust my firewall settings and now the button
is not available to select and it says the firewall is not on when it is and
I would like to reinstall it to see if that fixes the problem. Do you know
where I can find the download at?

There is no separate download to install just this "feature" embedded
into the OS. You could try a Repair Install from the Windows CD but
it is highly unlikely the problem is with the Security Center included
in Windows.
How do you know the [so far unnamed] firewall is "on"? Which firewall
are you using? |

You can't. It doesn't exist.

Windows XP "Security Center" was introduced with and is part of Service
Pack 2; should you have problems here you will need to attempt to
reinstall Service Pack 2 for Windows XP.
I am however unsure if this will fix your problems with Security Center.
Reinstalling Service Pack 2 may introduce other issues you wish to avoid.

Is there a way I can do this or should I not use Windows Security Center and
just buy something. Im not super computer literate so I need some help here.
My main issue is that in May I dont know what happened but all programs that
I use that link to the internet to communicate with their server will no
longer do so. I am assuming there is a simple solution but not sure of what.
An example is an epocrates program that I have downloaded to my computer,
then sync my PDA and it should update current medications everytime I sync.
For some reason it says that either my firewall is preventing communication
or I am not on the internet. I am on the internet when I am using it and I
have even turned off my firewall and it still doesnt work. I am at a loss.
I cant even download McAlfee or anything d/t when it needs to update it cant
communicate with the internet. If you have any suggestions it would be
wonderful.
