Post subject: registry configuration error
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>configuration_manage (more info?)

I have windows xp pro and I can't install the software
for my hp deskjet 1120C. I get the error message as it
installs the software.

Registry Configuration error
The setup wizard is unable to modify the settings stored
in the registry.

Then of coarse the install stops. What can I do? hp
does not have windows xp as a choice for an updated
driver. They just list win 3.1, 95, 98, 2000, NT and they
say all are xp supported. Help!
Thank you,

Karl

Are you logged on as an Administrator? If not, that may be the cause of the
error.

In any case, I think this error is being produced by the installer and not
Windows - have you checked with HP for support?
