ps2 ports freeze

Hi All,

I have a customer with a new Intel D975XBX2KR motherboard.
Problem, his ps2 mouse and keyboard like to freeze up
(any program, any function).

His mouse is a dual USB ps2 mouse. If I pull the frozen
mouse out of the ps2 adapter and place it in the USB slot,
it starts working again.

So, I switched them both to a PS2 to USB adapter dongle and he
no longer freezes up.

I have downloaded and installed the latest Intel 975
drivers -- no symptom change.

The customer would like his ps2 ports back. I do not know
if it has anything to do with anything, but when he plugs
his ipod in, the whole system freezes up.

How does one troubleshoot this?
