I cannot down size photos either. Apparantly McAfee (my security) isn't
compatable with windows mail so the automatic downsizing through windows mail
with Vista doesn't work for me. I would like to email photos from my
computer w/out using Kodak or one of the other sharing sites.

The video demo of the VSO Image Resizer mentions enlargement as well as
downsizing, but the former is not included in the freebie version.

Can anyone recommend a freebie enlarger that could, for instance, enlarge a
portrait photo fourfold? Photo Gallery and Live Photo Gallery allow
enlargement but are a bit hit-and-miss on accuracy when trying to divide a
photo into equal parts The threads I've read seem concerned only with
downsizing.

Yes, the free version of VSO can enlarge photos.
You can enter any pixel dimensions you require.

Could you explain what you mean about dividing a
photo into 4 equal parts? Are you saying you want
to print poster sized photos on a letter sized printer
and then assemble the photo?

The VSO application doesn't fit my requirements.

As you put it, I want to print poster sized photos on A4 paper and assemble
them. The first problem is (say to enlarge a portrait photo) increasing the
four (one for each quarter) copies of the original by exactly the same
proportion. The image size buttons in Live Photo Gallery facilitate this.
The next step is to crop each of the enlarged quarters. To do this the crop
box perimeter must be set exactly equal four times. This is fiddly.

The low tech solution is to set the alignment each time (using sticky tape
on the monitor if necessary).

Thanks for your help.

OK...here's a much better alternative...

The freeware Picasa has an option to enlarge
and separate your photos into sections.
