For some reason, I cannot post a reply to a thread I was working on. I have
tried all of the combinations of commands. When I highlight the entry I want
to reply to, it blinks and comes back with the regualr page. I am signed it.
What is going on?
P.S. I have no idea what combination of clicks enabled this post!

The reason you're having such problems is that you are using the web
interface to participate in this newsgroup--it's the slowest,
clunkiest, most error-prone method there is. Do yourself a favor and
switch to a newsreader, such as Outlook Express, which comes with
Windows. See

I recommend getting started using Outlook Express because everyone
running Windows XP already has it (it comes with Windows). Each
newsreader has a different set of features, and has its own strengths
and weaknesses. Which is best for *you* depends on how you work, and
what features are therefore important to *you*. As a single example of
that, Outlook Express is undoubtedly a very poor choice if you
frequent binary newsgroups. But its weaknesses in that regard don't
matter at all if you don't use binary newsgroups.

If you start with Outlook Express and use it for a while, you will get
to know *its* strengths and weaknesses and have a baseline to compare
others against.

With respect, you should dispense with that slow and quirky web
interface you are using and try a proper newsreader.

I need some education. I get into the newsgroups by starting IE, going to
the MS web page and searching on Windows XP newsgroupsto get to the list of
groups. I have been clicking on the heading which apparently starts the "Web
based" viewer. Is this the one that is giving me the problem?

I did try the newsreader one and it started OE but only displayed the first
few threads. I saw no means to page down to the next page full of threads.

What am I doing wrong? What should I install? You mentioned OE, but I
thought that is what I'm running.

Suggestions?

Thanks

Yes, that web-based viewer is exactly what I (and most of us here)
recommend *against*.

Read the page I posted a link to:
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/outlookexpressnewreader.htm

If that doesn't answer your questions about using OE as a newsreader,
post back with specific questions.

people use the
web base newsgroup
all the time without
difficulties.

perhaps it would
be best to first
"sign in/log in"
before posting
messages.
