Create a text file, e.g. C:\BIN\ShowDesktop.txt

Paste the following into C:\BIN\ShowDesktop.txt

[Shell]
Command=2
IconFile=explorer.exe,3
[Taskbar]
Command=ToggleDesktop

Rename C:\BIN\ShowDesktop.txt to C:\BIN\ShowDesktop.scf

Copy C:\BIN\ShowDesktop.scf to Quick Launch area.

Keyboard shortcut:

WinKey + M (Minimize all windows)
WinKey + D (Show Desktop on top)

or

Click the "Show Desktop" button in the Quick Launch toolbar. Note that Show
Desktop does not minimize the existing application Windows, but brings
Desktop window to the front. Clicking the "Show Desktop" button toggles the
Window position (Desktop sent to the back).

there is no such option on a vanilla XP installation. Perhaps is something
else you are using to get that.

Perhaps you mean "show desktop"?
