Post subject: loss of keyboard function
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>basics (more info?)

For some reason I've lost the ability to type upper case "m" and "k"
using the shift key on my computer. I can get the job done by
pressing the caps lock on and off, but that's very annoying. I'm
running XP home version with several user accounts. The strange thing
is that only the administrator account is affected. The limited user
accounts are fine. The problem exists in MS Office, note pad, and any
program that allows text to be entered (on my profile). No virus has
been detected, and I can't find anything on the net about it. I've
tried different keyboards and that makes no difference. Does anyone
know what may be causing this?
Thanks in advance,
mark

Have you tried "both" shift keys? ... one might be stuck ... also
before you have any other future keyboard problems, if you can get into win
explorer C:\Windows\System32 folder, look for
osk.exe .. make a shortcut to desktop, click it and get the "onscreen
keyboard" it will be a lifesaver during a "keyboard moment"
