hey everyone.
i haven't mentioned this since i have reinstalled vista, but i have
noticed that, since then, the windows experience index scores have gone
down 1 or 2 points. i have installed all the latest drivers using
drivermax but little performance has been improved. and it seems that
the gaming graphics have let me down on wei. also, the second lowest
score on wei is the aero performance. it is 4.0 on the aero because i
have recently changed the theme to windows classic for better
performance. i have changed back to aero, and haven't bothered the
update the wei score. here is a snip of the wei score right now-[image:
http://i25.tinypic.com/icqw5v.jpg].
i remember the score being up in the 5's but now, it is down.

just wondering if it was to do with reinstalling vista by any chance?
i'm not asking for a solution-but you can give me one if u can- just
want to know what is causing the laggyness.
look at my system specs to see why i think my computer should have
better performance.

If new hardware drivers for any of the laptop's hardware has been download
since the Vista install, these could cause different scores. On a machine
here, a new nVidia driver downloaded and installed through Windows update
result in a several point reduction in a graphic score. Could I have cared
less?

I wouldn't worry much if everything runs well. Reinstalling Vista (not
recommended) would only have you going through the same thing all over
again.

i didn't think this could be the issue, but i couldn't find my acer
windows home basic installation cd and used my sister's DELL windows
home basic installation cd instead, but still used my own product key.

You are obviously a newb and are easily impressed.

NOTE: Vista Forums LEECHES the vast majority of its posts from
Microsoft servers. Take a look around at the other "users" there.
ONLY the ones with an actual post count are registered users. The
posts from everyone else come from outside Vista Forums.

Well, no, except that I wouldn't attach too much importance to these scores.
They are merely guidelines for if you want to run certain types and titles
of softwares.

If you are really interested in your PC's performance, then you probably are
interested in getting into benchmarking softwares.

I utilize the msnews.microsoft.com news servers directly and have
subscribed to microsoft.public.windows.vista.general newsgroup from which
I read the OP (Original Post(er)).
