My key that starts words like "*iguratively", "*ormative", and "*ort" is
bringing up a "*ind computers" box, which brings up a second box that says
"The Active Directory Domain Services is currently unavailable". I
accidentally le*t my laptop open and my cat walked across it- Any ideas on
how to *ix this?

Check the keyboard mapping, it almost seems someone activated that key as a
'hotkey'.
I don't remember where the hotkeys are listed in Vista, but I'm sure someone
can point the way.

Check in the Ease of Access Center control panel icon for the keyboard
options, look for the Sticky Keys option - if on, turn off. Sounds like the
ALT key is stuck for some reason and that would be the first thing I'd
check.

Thank you very much. I checked my ease of access panel, and yes, sticky keys
were turned on. I shut them off and rebooted, and all was well. My laptop is
going to stay shut when I'm not in the house, now, and I'm going to sit down
with both of my cats and have a serious talk about the things they do when
I'm not looking.

Thank you all very much, again.

Set up the laptop to periodically play a very high pitched sound that only
cats can hear. Hopefully the cat will find this unpleasant and will go and
sh*t in your neighbour's garden instead of doing the hokey kokey on your
laptop.

Off Topic:

Heh! Gotta love the cats! And this is no joke - One of my cats goes
nuts for the mouse pointer on my screen. And if I chase him off so that
I can get my work done, he gets all huffy and starts scratching me, and
won't stop until I move the mouse around a bit for him to chase.

I've learned that when he wants to play with the mouse pointer, it's
best to leave him be until he gets tired of his own accord.

I guess what they say about cats and mice is true!

Both wise ideas. Smile I'm glad I was able to help.
