| Can any one tell me if there is some software, or a way of producing a
CD, that can be used after formatting my drive, and will reinstall WinXP
with drivers/up dates and some basic applications i.e. Word. All in one
go, as I format my drive twice a year and it takes days to get it back
as I like it.

Your best (and easiest) bet is to use a ghosting application such as Acronis
True Image. Install XP + patches, set up your apps just the way you like
it. Once you're done you take an image of the machine in that state and
just restore to that image.

This is a perfect use for an imaging program. I recommend Acronis True
Image. TI can do exactly what you want and can also do incremental
backups. Purchase an external hard drive on which to store your TI
images. There are other imaging programs, but I like TI best - that's
just my personal recommendation since I don't work for them.

I've had XP running on this computer for nearly six years and have
NEVER formatted the drive.
Since you insist on such obsessive behavior, buy an imaging program
like Acronis True Image and create a full backup of your new
installation.
Next time, skip the formatting and just restore from the backup image. |

Ok Thanks guys, it looks like Acronis TI is the peoples choice. And I
can't understand why they call you Uncle Grumpy, but thanks anyway. |

It's a long story. I absolutely positively DESERVE the moniker.
I got it in another newsgroup... liked it so much I took it on. |
