When my XP Pro computer starts the welcome screen is displayed and shows
all available user accounts, including Admin.

Is there a way to prevent Admin (or any selected account) from appearing
on the welcome screen? That way the account would only be available if
the user knew the account name and password AND knew to press
Alt+Ctrl+Del at the welcome screen to get a login prompt.

The computer is XP Pro standalone, not member of a domain. All user
accounts are local.

Thank you.

If you create a admin account the inbuilt one will hide itself.

Thanks, but I really do want to hide the Admin account, even if it is
simply a different account with admin privileges.

So the original question is still open.

Is it possible to hide accounts from the welcome screen?

Thanks again.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList

1 is Show and 0 is hide.
Accounts have default behaviour, So you add Administrator and set it to 1 to show the admin account (cos it's hidden by default on correctly configured machines). Add a normal user and set to 0 to hide a normal user because they show by default.
