| My computer won't hibernate.
When I click the button to hibernate my desktop starts to shut down, all my
desktop icons go away, the taskbar disappears, but then it never makes it any
further than that.It just sits like the timer mouse pointer and won't get
past that.

Rolling back your video driver (previous post) may have caused this.
Sometimes a computer will not go into hibernation because of the video
driver. One of mine is in this situation. Has ATI been any help at all?

Hm that's a possibility. I hadn't tried hibernate prior to rolling back the
driver so can't say for sure.
ATI was no help, the page on their site describing the error code
essentially says yes, we're aware of the problem but there's no fix yet.
No other new drivers are avail either.

Well, I can't say anything for sure about ATI, but the computer I am not
able to hibernate is the only one I have an ATI card in. The rest are
NVIDIA cards. I seem to remember back a while that someone got ATI tech
support to admit that their cards wouldn't go into hibernation unless
you made a registry change. I do NOT know what the change was though.
Sorry.

Hm ok.
Does anyone know what the registry change to fix this is?

I hit a wrong button, or blah blah blah thingy four days ago, and now the
system hibernation is in conflict with my camera (an MN100 Digital). When I
try to update, replace, or re-install the driver for the camera, there is
little green radio telescope thing that appears in the right hand, with all
the other running programmes, a Safe to Remove Programme thing. But the
camera works, and until a few days ago, I could hibernate and use the camera
without this idiotic thing getting in my way. Now I have to make a
choice--Camera or Hibernation, which is necessary for updating and virus
scanning overnight.
Any suggestions?
