Need for hardware/software reinstall. after Win XP repair?

Got a blue screen on my DELL laptop (not able to enter Windows) and used Win
XP home CD to repair damaged files.
Able to enter Win after this, but do I need to reinstall additional
hardware/software? Get severel errors and the computer works slow after
entering Win XP so something is obvious wrong..
IF i reinstall, for example, Dell software/hardware will my files on the PC
be erased??

Maybe, maybe not, some supplied repair disks or repair partitions allow you
to repair install, others wipe everything
I believe your Dell should have come with various drivers disks
You should allways backup data to external media
