I was wondering how fast my internet connection needs to
be to use remote desktop for by business(the upload
speed). Curently DSL or Cable is not available in my are
so i was considering a ISDN line which is 128 kbps. Is
this going to be enough or do I need to consider getting
a 256kbps T1 line.

thanks
james

The best advice we can give is to try it with a dialup connection.

I've used Remote Desktop over slow dialup--28.8 and 33.6 connections and
found it quite workable for remote administration of servers.

OTOH, with standard 768/128 DSL, I work with Excel over such a connection
and barely notice that I am not local at the host end.

I suspect that 128 ISDN would be just fine--but I hope it is cheaper than it
was when I had it before DSL became available. As I recall it was both time
and volume sensitive in pricing, and was expensive.

In addition, I disable the rendering/display of the remote PCs desktop wallpaper when I am in a
Remote Desktop session. I think it speeds up the data connection... You can disable the desktop
wallpaper for all clients using a Group Policy. On the host, run 'gpedit.msc' from the command line
and look at "Local Computer Policy -> Administrative Templates -> Windows Components -> Terminal
Services" for the policy to "Enforce Removal of Remote Desktop Wallpaper"....

But, to echo Bill, I used Remote Desktop over a 56K dialup link (usually getting 36K tops) with no
ill effects.
