XP Pro 1Gb...

Everything works well including all the audio functions...except the
event sounds that are selectable in the control panel\sounds and audio
devices.

I have tried SFC both from disk and HDD and have tried virtually every
suggestion that Google and Microsoft suggested. I reloaded my
motherboard chipset drivers as well as all audio related
drivers...including updating them as well as trying rollback.

Appreciate any help....Thanks..

Double-click the volume icon and make sure the .wav sounds aren't muted..

Will....

Thanks for your reply, but been there, done that..

Really weird....

In the window that selects the sounds, they are all listed and are
selectable, but the review button is greyed out.

I did download Kelly's list of wav sounds and tried to load them into
the media folder...still nothing..

Good suggestion, but been there as well....

As I explained, I see all the available sounds in the media file and
when I access each one, it will play the sound in another player...this
tells me that the wav file is ok, but when I try to select those that I
want, the preview play button is grayed out and this tells me it won't
work...and it doesn't.

Thanks

Ah, I read that they were all blocked from playing. Make sure the other
files actually exist. Maybe they're in the list because they're default
sounds, and listed in the registry, but they're actually missing from
their folder. In that case, SFC /SCANNOW might replace them; I'm not sure.
