Can't email video!

I have taken video with my digital camera.The video will play on my
computer,but when I want to send it as an email,I can not find it?I send
pictures to my friend just fine,but when i put the video in my picture file
to send it ,it is not there.So i put the file in my videos file and when I
try to attach it in an email and click on the video file to attach it,the
video file is empty!So I go to my documents to see what is going on and the
video is in the video file!So I am having problems with my hotmail not
recognizing the file.I did get one wierd message that said that the file was
a read only file.But how could it be a "read only file" when it says that it
is a vid?Please what am I doing wrong?
