Post subject: email message at login
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>basics (more info?)

at the login in screen on xp i get a message that i have emails unread,now
how do i get rid of this message/disable it and where are the so called
messages kept on my computer,i now have outlook turned off but i cant find
theses emails that i am suppose to have on my computer anywhere

The simplest way to not show unread email messages on the
Welcome screen is to download, install, and run TweakUI from
Microsoft. Once you've installed TweakUI, go to Start -> All
Programs -> Powertoys for Windows XP and launch the program.
Click the + sign next to Logon. Click on Unread Mail. Make the
appropriate changes in the right hand pane. Click OK. Restart
your compute to see if you get the desired results.

Go to registry key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UnreadMail]
and change dword value "MessageExpiryDays" - set it to 0.
