Post subject: send to > desktop (create shortcut) broken Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>general (more info?)
When I view an exe file in the Windows File Explorer and want to create
a shortcut to the desktop, I can do it by right dragging the file to the
desktop, but the right click context menu choice 'Send To > Desktop
(Create Shortcut)' doesn't work. I see this:

Desktop shortcut for an ntbackup job - Howdy All, I want to create a shortcut on the desktop that can simply be double clicked to run a backup job for ntbackup. I have tried, but when I create the shortcut it just flashes the backup utility on the screen and nothing happens. Any ideas? ....

Start Service from Shortcut - Is it possible to start a service from shortcuts? I tried to copy the command line (Path to executable:) in the services.msc but it didn't work.
lost "Turn off computer" shortcut - Used to have a shortcut in the bottom left area of the Welcome Screen to turn off the computer. Now I have to login, click Start and then select Turn Off Computer. How do I get the turn off option back at the Welcome Screen? Thanks, Steve T.
