ok here's the deal. i was having a problem viewing JPEGs in OE. so i
clicked tools/folder options/file types and looked at JPEG default and it
said "system32". is this correct?? also, when i open a jpeg from my pics,
and click the 'open this image for editing', i got an error message saying
"undefined application" or something. now if i change the JPEG default prog
to pic/fax viewer, everything works fine, including OE, but if i click
'default' button, it reverts back to "system32" and doesn't work right. is
this right, or has something been changed in my system? thanks for any
help!

I had a similar problem which I seem to have got round.
Maybe it will help you. Even though I had "Slowview" set
as the program to use when opening JPEGs, it ignored this
when I did actually double-click on a file. I managed to
get round it by right-clicking on a JPEG file,
selecting "Choose Program", clicking on Slowview and
checking the box which says "Always use this program to
open this file type".

well jpegs open in pic/fax viewer regardless if it says 'system32' or
'pic/fax viewer'. as i said, i changed default app. to pic/fax viewer and
all is well, but my main question was is system32 the correct default
application or is something corrupt? because when i click 'default' button
and it reverts to system32 it doesn't function properly and i can't open
jpeg attachments in OE.
