My system crashes whenever I try to load a program which goes through Java
on Ameritrade and Yahoo. I now bought TurboTax which has crashed as well
when I try to enter information. I'm not sure if the TurboTax program is
using Java but the other two online programs are. The TurboTax program has
been downloaded, and I am not using it online.
Thanks. |

Try opening event-viewer,click on an event/warning for the crash, try clicking
on the kb link enclosed with it.This opens kb help/support,usually with an
answer or fix.

Thank you both for your response. I was able to go into the event viewer,
but there were no error or warning notices. I rebooted the computer and
began to run TurboTax again and of course it crashed.
I went back into the event viewer, and there was still no warning or error
reports.
where a might go from here?
Thanks again.

Jeffrey
Please post copies of all Error and Warning Reports appearing in
the System and Application logs in Event Viewer for the last boot. No
Information Reports or Duplicates please. Indicate which also appear in
a previous boot.
You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer.
A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Hope this helps.

Did you look in the System and Application logs without filters applied?

Thanks Gerry.
When I go in to the event viewer system screen for example. There's a lot of
information lines listed. For example, if I highlight application, and
select action, properties, it shows me the screen that says application
properties and gives choices general and filter. I select filter and under
event types all the boxes are checked. Is this what you mean?
Thanks.

Jeff
I am surprised that you are not seeing an Error Report when I would
expect one to be there. As a consequence I am looking for an explanation
because until we get the information from such a Report it is difficult
to find a solution.
Generally I would not filter and would have the Reports listed in date /
time order. For most purposes you are only interested in the Reports
relating to the last two sessions and primarily since the last boot. If
a Report appears since the last boot it can be helpful to examine the
reports from the previous boot to see if it is a recurring error.
Remember a good solution to many problems is simply to restart the
computer. Warning and Error Reports are those most useful when
troubleshooting. I tend to ignore Information Reports.
For simple troubleshooting do not filter.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Jerry.
I've tried everything that we discussed. The thing is, I never get the blue
screen. What happens is, my screen just says no signal, digital. I'm
wondering if there's a problem elsewhere. I'm not sure where.
I appreciate the responses that you have given me. Do you have any other
ideas of where I may get some help.
Thank you again.
