Hello,

I cannot connect from my work computer to my home
computer using remote desktop. We use Wingate proxy
server at work. How can I configure Wingate so I can get
into my home computer?

Thanks,

I don't know anything about Wingate proxy, but that should have little to do
with your ability to make an outbound connection with RDP. Remote desktop
uses port 3389, most proxy servers specifically deal with port 80 requests,
turning all HTTP transfers into proxied transfers. The real question
probably has more to do with your remote computer. Some things to consider:

1. Your home computer must have a public ip. Can you ping that ip?
2. If your home computer does have a public ip, is it dynamic? Depending
on the provider and type of connection, that can change often or rarely.
3. Is your home computer directly against the internet, ie your connection
device directly connecting your comp to the internet- your computer must
physically have that public ip as its ip address as seen in 'ipconfig' from
a cmd prompt.
4. If your comp isn't directly connected, then it may go through a
router/firewall type device. If so, you'll need to set port forwarding from
that device (port 3389) to the internal ip address of your home computer.
5. Do you have xp home or pro at home? If you have xp pro, then make sure
that 'terminal services' service is running.

There are still more questions that can arise from this, but those are the
main and most basic things you have to know/configure/deal with before you
can make a remote desktop connection.
