Post subject: XP startup error - 00 USB serial device error
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>general, others (more info?)

I run an Emachines M5116, with Windows XP Home edition.
When I plug the mouse/keyboard in, it works fine, but I sometimes have
to restart 3 - 4 times.

Sometimes at start up it says "00 USB serial device error" and refuses
to recognise the startup!

What do I do next to fix this problem??

I don't really want to have to reinstall Windows XP (as I could lose
my data unless I do the repair existing install- is that
recommended??)

All help is appreciated

Cheers,
AN Other
