When I turn my computer on, Windows tries to load but as it loads the screen
goes black (as through it has lost power), but the power isn't the issue. I
have tries to reboot, given a choice to "use last good configuration" I tried
that. Given the choice to " start Windows", I chose that.
Should I use my initial Windows CD to reinstall? Any suggestions?

Might be that your hard drive has gone to the great computer warehouse in
the sky.

That could also be the monitor, graphics card, or power supply. Try
Safe Mode and see if it works.

How far does it go in the boot up process? Was the system having problems
before this showed up or was it a sudden thing - one day it boots fine, the
next the problem? If the latter is the case what changes were made to the
system between the time when things worked and now? Any new hardware or
software? Any updates from windows update? Any driver updates,
particularly through windows update?
