Windows XP

I have attempted installing windows XP and get message

unable to load setupdd.sys error code 4 esc to exit

This is happening every time I try to install

Before this I did install successfully, but more often,
when I boot, a red warning window appeared stating that
no hard disk present. This has happened twice!!

Can any one help

I presume, Hard disk has not crashed. I could repartition
and format and boot compter in dos mode.

Whenever there is a hint of a hard disk problem as there is here, you should
always run a diagnostic on the disk to rule that out as the problem. Hard
disks come with a floppy disk of tools including diagnostic tools. If you
don't have this disk, go to the hard drive manufacturer's web site, download
their tools, make note of their instructions for creating and running this
disk. Then, run their diagnostic tools to check the integrity of your hard
drive.
