Post subject: Windows XP/CD burner compatibility
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>configuration_manage (more info?)

My HP CD burner worked fine with Windows 98, but since
installing Windows XP, an error message comes up during
every startup: "Cannot attach to driver 'CDUDF.SYS'.
Please make sure it is loaded." (NO idea what that means).
I have uninstalled/reinstalled the burner software
several times, and DID install the HP update software for
XP, but that error box keeps appearing.
The music burns fine, but the above message also comes up
when I try to use the burner's Data section, and won't
let me use it.
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

Thank you

When you upgraded to Windows XP did you have CD burning software installed
on your 98 setup and is it still installed? It appears that whatever
software you were using for this function in 98 is not compatible with XP.
Most burning software needed to be updated to XP. If you have Nero or Easy
CD Creator installed, check their websites for the latest versions and
drives compatible with their current software.

You will likely need to uninstall the version you currently have installed
on your system before installing the new version.
