Post subject: Windows LIve Messenger version update

I got this message that a newer version was availalbe and I tried to update
my messenger. I then said that in order for this action to take place I had
to have Windows XP. Well I do have Windows XP. What is the latest version? I
have 8.0. And now what do I do?
