Post subject: Windows Firewall in XP Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>security_admin (more info?)
I cannot figure all this security info out anymore. So I will make a few
differnet questions.
first, If i have windows firewall on, now do i still download windows
defender (does that still exist?)
I have DSL i have their firewall set to low (this is a regular firewall I do
not pay for it), so i assume things come thru the DSL firewall, then go thru
the windows firewall is that correct? Does it make it more secure?
Windows Firewall #2 - If I add to Windows Firewall (WinXP Pro SP2) ports (in the Exceptions tab), how can know if I'm blocking those ports or openning those ports?
Windows Firewall - I have Windows Firewall enabled but its not asking to block any new programs. To test it I unchecked all the programs in the EXCEPTIONS tab and the Firewall is still not asking for approval to block or unblock. Any ideas?
Firewall and Reinstalling Windows - Does anyone know how I can tell if I have an active firewall and to disconect it if it is there? Also I would like to know how to reinstall Windows without having to reformat my hard disk> Bill
Windows Firewall and Routers - Is it true that if you have a router with Windows firewall you have a pseudo firewall built in to your system? I heard that the router itself acts as a firewall. But I don't know if this is true. Educate me?
Unable to turn on Windows Firewall - Windows Firewall is automatically turn off, and unable to turn it on (Windows Firewall -> General -> On). Please help! Thanks!
