Can anyone tell me why my Vista Ultimate is being validated each and
every day, the same Ultimate retail I have had for the past year? I have
made no hardware changes for several months and even then I did not have to
revalidate. It only takes about two seconds for the WGA and each validation
is reported as successful. Is this the new "nagging" feature Microsoft now
uses in place of the reduced functionality mode used before? If so, I don't
think it is working properly since each validation is successful.
I did a reformat and clean install a few days ago for the purpose of
finding the causative factor of my non-functioning Microsoft fingerprint
reader. As always, I entered my license key during the install and
successfully validated the OS online upon completion of the install. I have
always installed my OS in this manner and have never had any problems with
validation.
The only thing I can think of is that one of the latest updates
contains a new, revamped WGA application and the information reported to
Microsoft is in some way not being retained in Microsoft's databank. I don't
mind Microsoft validating my OS on a monthly or bi-monthly basis but if this
is going to be something done on a daily basis I think I'll just move over
to OS X. I'd rather use a Linux based OS, with all its limitations, than put
up with this constant mistrust by Microsoft.
It makes me feel as though I'm back in grade school waiting for the
teacher to smack my hand with a ruler. It's irritating as hell. I already
have one Big Brother (U.S. government) looking over my shoulder every day. I
neither need nor desire a second one. This is ridiculous.

Actually, Microsoft is loosening some of its insane/paranoid validation
restrictions on Vista.
You can run it for up to a year without validating now.
In part, along with recent price drops on retail copies of Vista, this
represents a somewhat desperate effort to get Vista out there on more
desktops than just the OEM retail sector.
For all those Linux/ubuntu et al lovers out there: sorry. Linux will never
replace Windows, although in a sense it has replaced the Mac with what is
described as a Unix cloned OS. Installing the Mac OS, especially on a
hackintosh, appears to reveal its Unix base from what I have seen.
All versions of Linux, because there is no central developer with a
financial stake, lack the ease of installation and configuration of Windows
and Mac OSes. The dedicated propeller head can perform most text-based PC
tasks on a Linux box but Photoshop, high end Audio/Video and high end games
will never be ported to Linux. If you can live without full Word/Excel
functions and the rest then Linux is viable. That does not describe most
users, particularly businesses. |

Hopefully your reinstall will fix the problem. As you can see this is not a
problem reported here and believe me if this was happening generally you
would see huge strings of postings.

You need to open a WGA support request (free) directly with Microsoft:

Hello Mr. Frisch,
I thank you and everyone else for their input. First of all, I did the
clean install a few days ago and everything is fine with it. Secondly,
although the WGA pops up every day it always validates successfully. I am
not suffering from any reduced functionality of any type.
If it persists I will send the information via the link you provided.
It's simply irritating, that is all.

ALL of your messages are SPAM, Frank. You never help anyone here. All
you do is act like a rabid bull dog that spews insults, profanity, lies
and bluster. That makes you a spamming troll that nobody likes.
