This may have been answered, sorry, but I'm new here. Question: how do I
encrypt a file in Vista -- within Windows Explorer. I wish to encrypt an
Excel file and several other .doc files. I went to the file's
Properties/General/Advanced tab areas, and found that the encryption option
was grayed out. I could compress, but not encrypt.
My Vista is the Home Premium version. What am I missing!!!? Thanks.

Hi,

Home editions of Vista do not support EFS. Business and Ultimate editions
have EFS.

Didn't know that. I went to several Microsoft sites and they were unclear
about the requirements.

Next (and final) question: what can I use, if anything, to effectively
encrypt my few sensitive files? I'd like to have something that's commonly
used by other Vista users. Any recommendations? Thanks.
