Hi there,
I run a 40 node SBS 2000 domain with 100% Windows XP clients. I am
experiencing a problem with a single user and no others on the domain.
For a long time we had two network printers shared in the directory
that we let the operational staff use. We recently got a new printer
which I installed on the server and shared in the directory like
normal.
So i guided the whole office through adding a new printer - deleting
the old out of date one and then finding the printer in the directory
and adding it as a default. The problem is now this one user. Every
time we try to add the printer, it says he can't connect.
I tried it on a different computer and still failed, so i thought it
was a roaming profile issue. Generated a new profile. Still the same.
I have even added the printer globally using the command line rundll32
but still no dice. the printer adds but can't connect. Windwos
firewall is off and everyone else in the office does not have
problems.
what do you reckon the problem could be.
error messages:
(when adding the printer from directory) = windows cannot connect to
this printer, either the printer name was typed incorrectly or the
specified printer lost it's connection to the server
(when adding the printer by UNC name or IP) = a policy is in effect
which prevents you from contacting to this print queue
any ideas?
