Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windowsxp>basics (more info?)

Some time ago, in a fit of something or other, I managed to suppress
the message which usually appears after disconnecting a USB device,
telling me that it is ok to remove the device. Now I realize that
this message is useful, and would like to turn it back on; however, I
can't seem to locate just where it was that I turned it off. Can
anyone help?

Here are a couple of options that you might want to try.

1. Download and install TweakUI from Microsoft. TweakUI is available here.

Microsoft PowerToys for Windows XP
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

Direct Download of TweakUI
http://download.microsoft.com/download/f/c/a/fca6767b-9ed9-45a6-b352-8...fb2a267

Once the program is installed, go to Start -> All Programs -> Powertoys for
Windows XP -> TweakUI.
In TweakUI, click on Taskbar and Start Menu.
In the right hand pane, put a check mark in the box next to "Enable balloon
tips".
Click OK.

2. Run the script on line 11, left hand column from this web site.
