I have two computers connected by hardwiring through a router <not
networked>. One has XP Pro/SP2 fully updated and the other has XP Home/SP2
fully updated except both are still using IE6.
Every morning when cold started, the time is one hour ahead. If not
changed, it will stay one hour ahead the next day, however if corrected then
next day it is one hour ahead again. The time zone is set to Eastern Time,
with box checked to correct for Day Savings Time. The patch for making this
correction was applied before the time changed to DST.
If I tell XP to Update the time, I get the following error message:
"An error occurred while windows was synchronizing with time.windows.com.
The time sample was rejected because: The peer's stratum is less than the
host's stratum."
The only way to get the correct time is to manually set it.
This is NOT a big deal, but is irritating to say the least. I have goggled
and searched MS knowledge base and not found any help. How to correct this
would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you
