Post subject: Task Bar - open applications no longer showing

Yesterday evening when I closed my PC, Microsoft updated my XP Professional
operation system.
This morning, my open applications are no longer showing in the task bar - I
can only get to them via Task Manager.
How do I get open applications icon back onto my task bar please ? Looking
at the threads, other people have suffered this problem before but I don't
understand the solutions - I don't want to start editing the registry. |

Do MS update on a Sunday ? Thought it was the 2nd Tuesday of the month

HELP! F2 shortcut key to rename file/folder no longer work.. - In Windows I have always been able to click on a file or folder in Explorer and press F2 and it would immediately go into Rename mode. Not only is this a great convenience for renaming files, more importantly you can press CTRL-C to copy the filename to....
