I have started working from home, and I have a computer that is acting
as my own personal web-server. I'm trying to get this server to remain
headless (i.e., no keyboard/video attached).
In order to connect to my company's network, I use the clientless
web-login method that is a part of Symantec's Gateway Security software
(don't have very many details on what version, etc.). I bring up the
proper web site, provide my user name and password, click the VPN link,
then a Java applet runs that initiates the VPN connection. This works
perfectly when I'm logged directly into the server.
BUT, it apparently fails when I attempt to do this from a Remote
Desktop screen. If the server reboots and I need to re-do the VPN
connection, I'm forced to connect a keyboard and monitor to the server
to do so. If I attempt to start the connection from within a Remote
Desktop screen, it shows an error message on the web site's event log
saying:
"network interface cannot be configured"
Does anyone have some ideas as to why this is the case? Any suggestions
on how to get this to work?
Thanks.
