I have encountered the following error when trying to boot up my laptop.

Stop: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive
(file): \SystemRoot\System32\Config\SOFTWARE or its log or alternate


Is anyone able to tell me how to resolve this?

I am having the same problem, I have inserted Windows XP Home disc but that
wont even load. I cannot start in any of the modes available, it just keeps
going back to blue screen with same message. Did you have any luck
eventually with this. Links to other help pages are not much use to me at
moment as cannot load disc anyway!!
