Dear Arkadiusz 'Black Fox' Artyszuk,
Thank you for your answer!
Meantime (yesterday evening) I found the solution :after a thorough
check of group policy
settings I found one item disabled and it was
changing the functuion of the start menu power button.
I have never disabled or configured anything in group
policies and I cannot decect how it got disabled.
At least, now I know a little more about group
policies, a territory I have never paid any attention to until now!
The actions of the start menu power button are set per machine, not per
user. Group policy allows for two different actions to be set for the
start menu power button depending on whether the computer is running on
mains or battery power. The group policy settings can be found in the
following path:
*Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / System / Power
Management / Button Settings*
I hope this reply will help others resolve similar
issues.
