Post subject: Stalled installation- Vista Home Premium
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>installation_setup (more info?)

I am building a new system and just launched the Vista OS install this evening.

hardware:

Phenom 9500 2.2 GHz
MSI K9A2 Platinum MB
2 Gb (2 x 1) Kingston Hyperex 1066 Mhz (It only shows 800 Mhz in the BIOS ??)
1 - 3.5 Floppy
1 CD-RW
4 Maxtor 320GB Diamond Max 21 SATA HD in RAID 10 config
Diamond Radeon 2600 XT Vid card- 515MB
650 Watt Cooler Master PS

I rebooted the system with the Vista DVD in the drive which it recognized
and started. Now it has been on the same screen for over 45 minutes with no
changes- no read lights on the DVD etc . . . .

I am going to shut it down and start it up again.

What is the problem if the same stall failurr occurs??

Fretting in Las Vegas-

You say you have a CD-RW.

It has to be able to read DVDs as vista is no DVD, not CD.
