I have a serious problem, I paid a lot of money to upgrade to Office 2007
and now Outlook express only spell checks in French, what are my options to
spell check in English?

Hi Jim S,

In the main OE window, go to Tools>Options>Spelling tab. Use the drop-down
picklist under Languages to change the selection to your preferred language
for spellcheck.

Take a look at these articles for why this happens.

After installing Office 2007 RTM, you don’t have English as a
choice of language in the spell checker of Outlook Express and
potentially other programs.
http://pschmid.net/blog/2006/11/13/80

You no longer have spell checking capabilities in some
languages in Outlook Express 6.0 after you install the 2007
Microsoft Office system
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932974

If you upgraded from Office 2003 and still have the
installation media for that version the easiest solution to
this problem is to install the Office 2003 Proofing tools.
That's how I got around this issue. You will need to perform a
custom installation. The Proofing Tools can be found under
Office Shared Features.

If you don't have an Office 2003 installation CD, here are a
couple of free spell checkers that you may find
helpful.

Spell Checker for OE
http://www.snapfiles.com/get/spelloe.html

Spell Checker for OE 2.1
http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2952

If you're looking for more options or information, you might
want to post this question to the Outlook or Outlook express
newsgroup.

Good luck

If you go under options>spelling tab... the only language that is there is
French.
Do you have any other ideas on how to fix the problem?

Nan

Also Spanish here. What language are you seeking to check?

What is your first language?

Hope this helps.

Jim S, I have the same problem and if you find a solution please let me
know. I do not have Office 2003 installed on my computer.
