How do I eliminate the very loud chime on start up and program changes? I've
selected and saved "No Sounds", but it seems to change back to this on it's
own - without rebooting, etc. I have the volume on max because my laptop
speakers are not very good and haven't figured out how to run my 5 speaker
surround sound system from the 1 outlet available.
Thx!

Try setting the individual sounds to none, i.e., control panel, sounds,
sounds tab, windows, start windows
