Well I did the ultimate stupid thing I accidentally uninstalled the driver
for my sound device and now I don't have one. I am going to try a full
restore to get it back. Maybe that will fix the other problem as well . If
anyone has a better idea please let me know.

Why not simply reinstall the driver?

Well that was a waste of time ,got the Sound system bACK BUT STILL NO SOUND
AND IT SAYS IT DOES NOT RECOGNISE IT, so i am doing it again. And joy of joys
the dvd/cd drive is playing up and not reading the discs properly...wish I
had never bought the darned thing now. will next try updating the dvd driver
is any thing on this system designed to work the first 20 times?

sound - I have new PC amd 2800, 512 ram and onboard sound/video the video works but there is no sound. the speakers are on with power and jack plugged in back 'gree hole' I goto sounds in control panel, change to windows default and nothing. i cant click on..

No sound at times... - Ok, Ive been using windows xp for 6 months or so, it came with the comp, so I did not install it myself. But sometimes all of a sudden the entire system becomes mute. as in now sound what so ever, you pop in a cd or another type of media, click play..

Sound problems - I have switched on today and I have no sounds but the media player still works! The problem arose after I removed Windows One Care Beta that I decided to evaluate - it caused so many problems I decided to remove it. I also removed Windows Defender. ..

no sound with IE7 - I am running XP Pro SP2 that came with my Alienware laptop. I have sound for the rest of my computer, but none in IE7.

Sound is Echoing - I recently had my computer in the shop and they reformatted it. When I got it back it was fine but one problem. All the sound I play comes out with this weird echo or muffled sound. I am not an expert at computers. I have read one post like this..
