Windows will not shutdown by just hiting the keys to
shutdown

To turn off the computer
Click Start, click Turn Off Computer, and then click Turn Off.
This action shuts down Windows so that you can safely turn off the computer.
Many computers turn off automatically after you complete the steps above.
Note
When you turn on the computer again, Windows starts automatically.
