SONY CD-RW CRX230EE SHOWING Exclaimation in Device Manager

Hi ,
I have P4 WIndowsXP Pro. SP1 PC with SONY CRX230EE CD RW drive, the Drive
was working fine, then all of a sudden it is not listed in Drive List.

In the Device Manager, The DC-RW is listed with a Exclamation Mark, and
every effort to update or reinstall drivers have failed.

What I DID..? -

-Uninstalled the CD Drive, Uninstalled the NERO6, and removed
the Upperfilter and Lowerfilters from the Registry as advised by the
Microsoft Knowledge base Article, and rebooted the PC.

The PC detected and installed the Drive, and Msged that the PC Must be
restarted for the Device to Work properly.

And when I restarted the PC, the CD-RW Drive again disappeared, and shows
only with a Exclaimation mark again in Device Manager.

AT Sony no Driver, Update or Anything is available for CRX 230EE ( 230E
Doesn't work with this model).

I had posted the Question at this forum also, , and a MVP named Carey has
very kindly tried to help.. as suggested, I uninstalled the secondary IDE
channel also, but again when I restarted the PC, the CD-RW Drive is listed in
the Device manager with and Exclamation mark.

Now, I hope someone here could help me out..( as usual.. )

AND SOMEONE-- JUST SOMEONE- Can tell me whats happening..? (The CD-RW works
fine on other PCs...)
