Post subject: Ripping - Disabling
Archived from groups: microsoft>public>windows>vista>music_pictures_video (more info?)

Although I have set the "Rip CD When Automatically Inserted" option to:
"Never", Windows Media Player (Version 11.0.6000.6344) still insists on
ripping my audio CDs when I insert them into the drive of my HP Pavilion
Laptop.

Check your AutoPlay settings. Click Start, Default Programs, Change AutoPlay settings. Ensure that the "Rip music from CD using Windows Media Player" is not selected.
